I'm not sure why, but all I could say was, "I might be able to get by without it, but it sure would make my life a whole lot easier right now." To my surprise Little Frankie began rolling up his window, motioned to mine and reached across to turn on the switch that said a/c. Well, how about that. A 1972 El Camino with a perfectly good working air conditioner.
The clerk at the auto parts store near me will either find your filter in stock or order it for you. Select the type of oil the manufacturer of your vehicle recommends. A common grade of engine oil is 10W30. Select the size of oil container your vehicle usually uses for a refill. Mine usually uses about four litres of oil. You will need an oil filter wrench that will fit your size of oil filter and a box end wrench to fit the size of oil pan bolt your vehicle has. They are commonly about one half of an inch. Be sure you have a variety of wrenches available around that size. You will need a metal pan about six inches deep which should be large enough to hold more than four litres of oil. These are readily available at hardware stores. You will need some newspapers and rags to wipe your hands on.
Inexpensive - Build your own magnet motor for as little as $200 in parts from your locally available hardware, lumber supply and auto store near me. They have all you need to complete this project.
Here is a marvelous product that has multiple uses. I keep a can of this in my car at all times. This product is penetrating oil. I use the Water Dispersant type and it does a pretty good job of it too.
Regularly clean the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor located in the inlet pipe near the airbox. A contaminated MAF sensor can cause faulty signals to the ECU resulting in overboosting. Suitable MAF cleaners are available from your local auto parts near me.
Decide whether used is good for this repair. If you crack a tail light or break a motor mount, a used part is the perfect low-cost solution. Parts that wear out anyway like alternators, starters and brake rotors should probably be purchased new.
